Scutch Hammers & Scutches

This specialist hammer is the most commonly used tools for dressing and cleaning bricks. The single scutch version has a hardened square striking face at one end with a single comb slot at the opposite end. Also available are replaceable one inch scutch combs or chisel bits (droves) they are available in two models. SAFETY TIP Wear safety spectacles, or goggles, when hammering. Never use hammers to strike hardened metal. Strike squarely and avoid glancing blows. Never strike with the side of a hammer. Do not use a hammer with a loose or damaged head. Remember that left for a long time in very dry conditions, wood can dry out. Always check to ensure that this has not happened to your handle. Always use the correct hammer for the job.
